Eugenio Merino
The Decolonial Postcards project presents a collection of tourist postcards from various cities intervened by the artist. In these postcards, we find colonial monuments in the process of being demolished. In this case, we see cut-out silhouettes of Christopher Columbus reeling in the process of falling. Merino points out in this way that tourist postcards and the monuments they spread have traditionally served as a vehicle for ideological propaganda in the hands of the hegemonic power.
